MTEQ is seeking a Safety, Health & Environmental Specialist with strong analytic and communication skills to join our team of well qualified, diverse individuals at our Ft. Belvoir, VA office.


+ Identify chemical, physical, radiological, and biological hazards in the workplace

+ Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and government health, safety, and environmental standards and regulations

+ Examine equipment, ventilation, lighting, and other conditions that may affect employee health, comfort, or performance

+ Investigate employee complaints concerning exposure to hazardous materials or air pollutants

+ Investigate accidents and incidents to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future

+ Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions

+ Conduct training on a variety of topics such as emergency preparedness

+ Supervise work of outside contractors involved in removing or testing hazardous materials

+ Maintain accurate records related to chemical inventories, complaint investigations, and shipments of hazardous waste

+ Collect samples of potentially toxic materials for analysis

+ Respond to emergencies, assist with traffic control, and provide information about emergency to management


+ Strong problem-solving skills to find solutions to unsafe working conditions and environmental concerns

+ Good interpersonal relationship skills

+ Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organization skills

+ Ability to work with complex testing equipment

+ Ability to read and interpret corporate and government standards and regulations

+ Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a team


+ A bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field is preferred, but not required


+ Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance is required


SCHEDULE: Full time
