The Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for the installation/maintenance of telecommunication, video, VOIP and VTC systems and services support at all M.C. Dean, Inc. departments, divisions and field locations.

Job Description:

+ Participating in interactions with internal and external clients to define requirements, discuss project progress, and resolve issues as they arise.

+ Providing second-level technical and non-technical support as needed, including client/vendor relations and technical problem solving and providing training to clients and staff for new systems.

+ Configure, test, and maintain VOIP/VTC equipment and related network services.

+ Researching new technologies to fully understand implementation requirements and implications for integration with other systems.

+ Producing required documentation such as client communication, proposals and user instructions. Troubleshooting and debugging increasingly complex network problems, making recommendations for improved operational efficiency, repair, replacement or upgrades.

+ Negotiating with vendors to obtain competitive bids for equipment or services.

+ Programming, installing and maintaining IP based video surveillance and DVR systems.

+ Maintaining existing and deploy new Cisco VOIP and VTC systems of various models.

+ Installation/ maintenance/upgrade of conference system and its user directory.

+ Support, maintenance, upgrades Cisco based call center system.

+ Support and deploying teleworker solutions

+ Working under minimal supervision with moderate latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment.

+ Documents telecom problems and resolution for future reference.

+ Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.

+ Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors and ISP's when needed. Participate in a 24 X & on call rotation as assigned by the Senior Telecom Engineer.

Job Requirements:

The incumbent must have between two years or less of experience with a bachelor degree implementing various telecom technologies and end-user support.

+ Must be well versed in the TCP/IP protocol and its routing.

+ Working knowledge of the following systems: Unix/Linux, Cisco IOS and Windows Server.

+ Working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches

+ Working knowledge of routing protocols and switching technologies

+ Have advanced knowledge of SIP/PRI technology for peering with provider.

+ Be very familiar in the configuration of VOIP infrastructure its cluster/redundant technology.

+ Be able to configure/maintenance/upgrade VOIP systems including the hardware within.

+ Be knowledgeable with VTC (Video Tele-conferencing) systems, its capabilities, its technologies and all supporting hardware and their functions

Desired Skills:

Must have knowledge of the following systems: UNIX/LINUX, CISCO IOS and Windows Server.

Must have knowledge of Cisco VoIP systems (CUCM, CUC, CUP, CUCCX, CUBE, VCS, TMS), Mitel VoIP;

VOIP technologies and protocols: SIP, MGCP, H323, H264, SCCP, MiNET, LAN/WAN medias and protocols.

Working knowledge of Extron equipment will be helpful.

Knowledge of routers and switches;

- This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle. Selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance to our policy.
