JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:







o Processes submittals, RFI's.


o Posting RFI's and change orders.


o Pricing, tracking and managing change orders.


o Identifying change orders and ensuring effective resolution.


o Maintaining as-built drawings.


o Documenting project issues/conditions.


o Maintaining organized and detailed project records.


o Submitting hours and cost codes.


o Planning and executing project completion and punch list.


o Preparing specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.


o Submitting O&M manuals.


o Assisting in development of full estimate.


o Participate in KPR (Key Project Review).


o Managing coordination, detailing logs & schedule.


o Managing schedule updates.


o Identifying value added solutions & cost savings methods.


o Instructing field personnel in proper Railroad/Transit installation procedures for various wayside equipment.


o Understand relay and relay equivalent drawings (generated by computer language).




REQUIREMENTS:



o 10 to 12 years of experience as a Train Control Engineer with a BS degree or 7 to 9 years of experience as a Train Control Engineer with a MS Degree.


o Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology


o Ability to demonstrate solid working knowledge of vital signaling principles, accepted signaling practices in the North American signaling environment


o Design and evaluate North American signaling and train control systems


o Good working familiarity with AREMA and FRA requirements and recommendations


o Writing and presentation skills, use of common office productivity software


o CAD production capabilities


o Ability to estimate hardware, engineering, software production, testing for signaling system projects


o Prepare and solicit pricing from prospective vendors


o Evaluate Vendor proposals


o The ability to read Track and Cable Plan.


o Understanding of transit design processes.


o Understanding of pre-written field test procedures.


o Ability to develop field test procedures.


o Experience working with: Microsoft Office, Estimation Software, Oscilloscope, Multi-meter, Various Railroading hand tools







o Block design and evaluation for wayside, cab signal, and automatic train stop systems


o Control system software for vital and non-vital systems


o Field installation estimation, crew sizing, planning, and supervision


o Working relationship with major signal system vendors supplying North America


o Ability and desire to innovate
